Work, or is it?

In San Francisco right now, about to go to the keynote address for Workday Rising.

This small business trip has not started out well.

The train ride in featured a mentally unstable person screaming really horrendous antisemitic epithets.

My corporate card was declined at the front desk of the hotel.

My anxiety levels are way up. I have to meet people in the lobby. I have to interact with said people. And I think I’m overdressed (business casual instead of just casual).

The hotel room had a scale in it, my hand slipped and pulled it off the shelf and then I accidentally stumbled onto it. I stood there in shock for a minute while the electronic numbers went up and down and finally settled on a number.

This trip has not started out well.

This break from work has started out well.

My boss’ boss set my mind at ease about one of the vendor meetings I’m supposed to attend to feel out their product. Nothing is riding on it.

I ran into a friend in the hotel lobby. I’m meeting another old friend later.

I don’t have to work on high stress projects for the next few weeks.

Let’s hope it’s all smooth going from here, with maybe just a few minor bumps along the way.

Hope you all are having terrific weeks!

  1. Loads of hugs. Those evil scales need to be banished! Mine is also scary when stepped on. I’m glad you’re getting a break from all the high stress work projects and that you got to meet with some friends. Glad you survived the conference (and so sorry for all the troubling beginnings to it!). Looking forward to new adventures for you in the coming year. You deserve all the good ones. <3
