2022 Countdown: #19 – #15

Dropping down to five songs per week as we approach my personal #1. I’d love it if others shared their personal lists, too.

If you check out the youtube links (the green text), be sure to turn CCs on if available, especially if lyrics are important to you. They’re important to me. Also, up the default quality unless you need 360p.

#19 ABOUT – MONSTER
I need space for isolation. What is right? Where is light? Dark in my room.
The feel of this song reminds me of my teenage years. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but it’s definitely a comforting thing, so I think that makes it good. I just really hope no lizards got hurt in the making of … 😉

#18 YOOJUNG – BEGIN
That point is the beginning of everything. When you’re free from any prejudice (freedom will begin).
A six song series, at least I think it will be, and this is the first of the songs and my favorite of those released so far. I really like what OnlyOneOf is doing with this series and how they’re being a voice for the LGBTQIA+ community, showing us multiple stories and points of view.

#17 DPR IAN – SOMETIMES I’M
I’m breaking down to my old ways, just falling out of line, I smile and tell you I’m okay.
I’m not sure what to say besides that I really am okay. But I can relate to so much of this song, from wanting to be alone to thinking the world is prettier from above.

#16 LOCO & HWASA – LEMON
If I’m still at the same place even though I run, I should dance.
The lyrics in this song are open enough to fit so many scenarios and interpretations. And these two singers/performers are just awesome together.

#15 PSY – GANJI (feat. JESSI)
Psy: “Get your rap right in Korean, pronunciation is key, how else will Koreans get you?
Jessi: “Psy oppa told me, get your Korean right. I just say k and I do whatever, yeah.
I love Psy’s and Jessi’s confidence and swag and sexiness and minds and their GANJI! And this song. I wanted to quote the entire song, but settled on the above exchange between the two.

Next week, #14 – #10.
