About

My name is Viv. I have a longer name—something with multiple middle names and last names.

I like to write. It’s what I do.

So this site, Seven, is where I share my writing. Why “Seven”? That’s pretty easy. It’s what I write about. I’ll explain in a bit.

I first got into writing way back in 1980-something when I started writing fan-fiction on paper. Or maybe it started before that, when I’d keep tracks of the names of the characters of my favorite series in a notebook, and any little facts about them. Does this seem a bit OCD? I come by that naturally. My father literally kept a list of his lists and had labels for his labels. Everything listed, everything labeled. So, yeah, I’d keep this list of characters from the Anne of Green Gables series, the Archie Comics series, and the Trixie Belden series, and maybe a few others which I no longer remember clearly.

And in my head, I imagined all these characters in the same place at the same time and thus my first forays (forages? are either of those the right word?) into fan-fiction.

Fast forward nearly twenty years to late 1999. I’m at a job, bored, because my job was to sit there and monitor the clunky old systems as they did their nightly backups. My boss and co-worker is at his desk playing some online video game that allows you to shoot at spaceships and asteroids and whatnot. So I open a web browser and do a search using the ever popular Alta-Vista and search for a myriad of different things flitting through my mind, including “Trixie Belden”.

The results? Some punk band going by that name. Not to be deterred, I kept thinking to myself that I can’t possibly be the only fan of this awesome young adult mystery series. I just can’t. Someone else must be a fan and they’ll start a website eventually. By 2000, my luck changed and I stumbled on a few different websites, one of which was in its early stages and is now known as Jixemitri. I found my people.

Come 2003, and I started actually sharing my own fan-fiction on this site. By 2005, they’d roped me into being an official author. 😉 But this leads me back to “Why Seven?”

There are seven main characters of the Trixie Belden series, the seven Bob-Whites of the Glen as they call themselves.

In 2020, another member of this writing community posted a prompt challenge, and one of those prompts, #13 (my lucky number, also the day of the month on which I was born), was: “Seven angels are each assigned to a different sin: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride. The angels’ job is to steer humans away from these sins.”

And from that, I ended up with a new series of fiction which I still haven’t landed on a name for. For now, I’ll call this: The Angels of Daria.

So two main foci of my writing, both revolving around seven main characters. But I’d be remiss to leave out another important group of seven: BTS. Yes, I’m referring to the South Korean group Bangtan Sonyeondan, aka Bulletproof Boyscouts.

I’ve been unabashedly A.R.M.Y. since 2018, although I’d heard of them before that thanks to my daughter. I enjoyed their music but wouldn’t have considered myself a stan, until I started digging into their lyrics and the stories they tell. There was one song in particular, released January 2020, Black Swan, that really made me take a step back and think. Specifically, I thought about how I used to write, when I stopped, and why I was having the hardest time getting back into it.

Between that song and Julie’s prompt (mentioned above), I started writing again.

Thus, Seven.

If you’ve read everything above, or even if you haven’t, I truly appreciate anyone and everyone who comes to this site and takes even a moment out of their precious time to spend with my characters. Thank you. Peace and love to all.
